How Do Alcohol and Sand Mix?

There are a lot of reasons to be cautious of your alcohol consumption when hanging out on the beach.  It may be difficult to remember them when you are enjoying a cold one, on a hot summer day when the waves are washing up on your toes.  But consider these few.

Dehydration is a big issue.  When in the heat of  the sun, your body heat rises causing dehydration.  It takes a lot of fluids (like water) to help this condition.  Alcohol doesn't help to rehydrate; it only worsens the situation.  If you have a dry mouth, experience dizziness, have an increase in your heart rate or have heavy breathing, get those fluids going right away and ditch the margarita.

Dehydration can lead to heat stroke. Symptoms are headache, dizziness, disorientation, confusion, loss of consciousness, hallucination, and seizures. Again, with these symptoms you should hydrate with water, cool the body down and get emergency assistance.

And then there is Oblivion.  That is simply what happens when we drink too much and become totally unaware of the amount of sun we have been exposed to.  We may forget to apply the sun screen.  Forget where we left our ice chest and towels, or not be able to locate our car when it's time to leave. And just maybe, we could make a total fool of our selves.  That is if we don't drown.

What this video if you want to see the perfect example of Oblivion; and get a pretty good laugh.

Make Up University Hits Phoenix Comicon

Yep - Make Up University, Cherelynn Baker (a true makeup Guru) are In-The-House, at the 2013 Phoenix Comicon.

Generally I keep this site for reviewing subjects that deal with swim wear, beach attire, spas, pools, and anything that has to do with water fun.  But I am making an exception for the Phoenix Comicon 2013 because our  good friend and occasional contributor of beauty info, is attending this event.  And I have a bit of a love for Comicons, ever since I attended my first one with Cherelynn many years ago in San Diego, California.  That event is so amazing.

So here's the skinny, briefly, of a few fun things happening this weekend.

Zombie Beauty Pageant, Masquerade Party, the Babylon 5 Extravaganza, and so much more.

And now for OUR MAIN EVENT !

Here's a little beauty info from Make Up University.  After all, I have to keep this post on subject at least a little bit.

Preparing for the event -

Day one - highlights of this day for Cherelynn was sitting on the Pugs: The Geek Smackdown, where a panel of specialist were given questions and a minute to debate. The best argument wins.  Cherelynn actually has a list of the questions on her Make Up University site.  You'll have to check it out.  ALSO - if you are one of the lucky soles who are in attendance of  the Comicon,  there is a surprising ending to this event that you can view on her site also.

Day two with Cherelynn and Makeup University cruisin' the halls of Phoenix Comicon had her snapping pics of some real fun subjects.  And she shared some of those pics with us.  Take a look at this little gallery -

. . . and a few more pics that I found on line.  One of the things that I love about Comicon is that you never know what you will see; and everyone, no matter how they are dressed, just fit in with the crowd.   Check out this variety.  We have everything from a sweet little mermaid to many women who chose skin as their costume of choice.

I am so bummmed that I could not be in Phoenix for this event.  In a few days we will have an update from Makeup University on this experience.  Stay tuned.

One more thing to check out!
If you are a Trekky, you will want to check out this little teaser for Star Trek Continues.

Realistic Mannequins

Sweden seems to be the first to bring reality to those stoic human figures known as mannequins.  Where as in most countries, including the U.S., mannequins are about a size 4, and in unrealistic proportions.  In 2010, Sweden began to use curvy women figures with a realistic size of about a 14.  This amazing and would make almost any woman more comfortable when walking shopping for clothing.

Check out these photos -

I will be in search of plastic bodies, that follow this realistic concept, to display our swim suits on.

What's In A Name?

In this case, I don't think I want to think about the name too much when talking about this product.  But, it is a really neat treat that should be a part of your daily life.

Now - I don't think I am a 'prude' or extremely conservative, but - - - I mean, I am a mom, a grandmother, and even a great grand mother, and I do make bikinis for a living.  Some of these bikinis are tiny, itty bitty bikinis, micro thong sets, and there are times when the orders are calling for the Caribbean favorite, the topless bikini (we specialize in that one).  But - Coochy Cream?!  What is that name all about?!

Let's start here - with the legs.  (Bet you thought I was going to say Coochy).   Woman have drawn attention to their legs since the beginning of time. We have shaved them from heels to 'top'.  We have waxed them.  Had them lasered for long lasting smoothness.  And of course, we have valued them, greatly.  After all, without our legs, how would we stay on the horse.  Right?

You could have long legs, short legs, thick legs, skinny legs, flabby or taught, they are all legs and they are all the part of our body that has the greatest exposure.

Weather it's a single, striking woman with long luxurious legs or a  group of women who all want to look a bit more desirable than their cohorts, it's all about the legs.

And where does it all begin?  Especially during bikini season?  You figure it out.  Back to this amazing shaving aid.  The weather is hot and it's time to do the max when it comes to that shave.  Early in swim season, we tend to reach those areas that we didn't care so much about when there is snow on the ground and this leads to some real irritation and red bumps.  Gross, right?  Here is where the Coochy Cream comes in.
Here's a little description from Pure Romance, the sellers of Coochy Cream -

Coochy Shave Lotion is the #1 most talked about product in our line and a customer favorite! Shave with this gentle, unisex conditioning shave cream and keep those unsightly red bikini bumps from crashing your most intimate moments. Sure to become a staple in your shower, Coochy smells great and is gentle for all areas of the body — in fact, it can do double duty as a moisturizing hair conditioner. Coochy is a must have! 8 fl. oz. / 240 ml.

Directions

Apply a small amount to the skin prior to shaving. Individuals with sensitive skin should allow Coochy to set a few minutes on damp skin before shaving.

Features
Coochy is a shaving cream designed for both men and women. Help avoid red bumps from appearing in the bikini area, underarms, and legs, so they stay looking great, even after shaving. Doubles as a gentle moisturizing hair conditioner. Available in 8 fl. oz. / 240 ml.
All righty now - I can tell you that this shaving lotion is super and really does have your razor gliding smoothly over all those areas that can sometimes be uncomfortable.  You will have to try to truly understand how nice this can feel.  When it comes to Pure Romance's suggestion about using it as a moisturizing hair conditioner also - I just don't think I can do that one.
Check out this site for more info on the many scents of Coochy Cream and more great products from Pure Romance.

Las Vegas Pool Action in Downtown Scottsdale

I'm not too sure that Arizona is ready to have a little Las Vegas experience, even in Scottsdale.  I love the concept, but I'm kind of afraid that the party people of the area will still fly to Vegas for their fun weekend.  But, for now, let's talk about Maya Day and Nightclub.

This 23,700 square foot beach club will be concentrating on entertainment and fun.
Maya is a 9,700-square-foot nightclub and a 17,600-square-foot patio with rentable daybeds, lounges and cabanas.
Built by Triyar Cos. as a temple to the cult of the DJ, the venue highlights mixmasters inside and out, with both spaces designed symmetrically around DJ booths. The first month of booked shows reflects years of those connected with the project talking up Maya to big names in the electronic- and dance-music world. So early headliners include Calvin Harris (at $70 per ticket for general admission), Morgan Page and Steve Aoki.

“Before, DJs were afterthoughts, in the corner. Now, everything is focused on the DJ,” said director of entertainment Steve LeVine, of Scottsdale-based Steve LeVine Entertainment and Public Relations. “The DJ is so much the focus that we’re even going to sell tickets for tables next to the booth outside, so you can party with the DJ.
With a roughly 1,400-person capacity, Maya is the Valley’s second resort-pool-without-the-resort venue, and its most ambitious. As envisioned by Triyar co-owner Shawn Yari, the space serves as an anchor for his redeveloped nightlife district that has also included improvements such as widened sidewalks and street landscaping.

The revitalization started in 2011, when El Hefe Super Macho Taqueria, Majerle’s Sports Grill and Wild Knight opened on Saddlebag Trail. Since then, rock and roll bar HiFi Kitchen andCocktails has opened. Coming this summer: Irish bar Derby Public House, country bar Whiskey Row and a yoga studio meets juice bar.

During the day and late night, Maya will serve tacos, ceviche and other Mexican food, both inside the venue and to the street via a service window. But the most buzz-worthy items on the menu are likely to be the slushies. The frozen cocktails ($10), with names like Beach Ball Tango and Desert Storm, are dispensed from in-wall slushie machines that serve as the focal point of the main outdoor bar.
At the entrance, Moroccan-style lanterns hang over the open-air, two-story foyer; and gray metal latticework doors open out onto the patio. There, fuchsia bougainvillea add color to a pastel poolscape studded with patches of fake grass and finished with tall palms, great pendant lights strung between them. A tiny guest shop sells hats, sunscreen, lip gloss and sunglasses.
In the club, concentric rings of light flash above the circular dance floor, which is flanked by two rows of bottle-service booths. Plexiglass trapezoid ice buckets glint in the disco lights, posed just so on black octagon tables. Bottle service starts at $350. Servers clad in lingerie — black bustiers, panties, thigh-highs and garter belts — dash about.
Simply said - It looks amazing!
Here's one of the vids I found on line about this new hot spot -

Photos from the grand opening - and more
Packed house

Where else can you get fire performers by in the pool?

and mermaids -
The decor is definitely not what you find in Arizona clubs!  It's amazing!
Unique pool entertainment
Calvin Harris is just one of the live music spinners !

Question number one - is this going to be a party place only or will it be a place for day/night relaxation too?
It will take a bit of time to tell that one.

And - question number two - and the one that I am really curious about -
is there a bikini shop at
Maya Day & Night Club?

There should be and they should carry Exposure Swimwear.
I'll be checking it out soon.

If you are one of those people who hops on  Southwest Airlines and fly to Las Vegas  for a fun weekend, it may be worth giving the Maya a try.  If you want to do a bit of gambling, Casino Arizona is just around the corner.  Or Talking Stick Resort has your Casino, golf and an amazing spaAnd Scottsdale is packed with every kind of shopping you could imagine.  Again - Scottsdale Fashion Square and Old Town Scottsdale are just up the road.

There's not much info on Maya Day & Nightclub Facebook page yet, but you can keep track of events here.  Check it out and follow them.  I, for one, would like to see this club 'make it'.
